A New Era
To our friends and fans:
My Cousin Dallas has been put on hold for an indefinite period of time. We prefer to use the term "hiatus" as opposed to "break-up", because none of us stormed out on each other. We did not go to lunch only to have one band member return to the studio. Carl's heart is with the Gravities. Derek, Margaret, and Sam wish him the best with that endeavor, and hope to see that band on Total Request Live very soon. In this sense, MCD was done in by creative differences.
However, we hold no grudges, and would gladly play as MCD today if the offer were to our liking. With Carl pursuing other things, the rest of the former cousins refused to sit on a shelf. Derek has since recruited a teacher friend of his named Brett to play guitar. Some of you may have met Brett at Derek's BIG DAMN CD CHALLENGE party. The few practices we've had with the new guy have been promising, although we're uncertain if he would be better suited to play lead or bass guitar.
Derek chose the name Wyndham Earle for the new band, but it's really just a working title at this point. The fact is that we can't call ourselves anything until we start performing live again. We can't do that until we have a decent PA system. You may recall the system that MCD had used in their shows. That was the sole property of Carl, and he recently sold it on Ebay. In all fairness, he did offer it to us first, but we didn't want to commit just yet.
The bottom line is that all of us love performing, and none of us want to quit. If there's anyone out there that never got to hear MCD's second and [officially] unreleased album, we may be buring off free copies of it soon. We hope to be posting new updates, and we will probably get a new web site. Until then, keep your eyes on this journal, and feel free to comment with any questions or helpful suggestions.
Love to all of you, hugs, and good tunes.
